A girl, 2, fell to her death from an eighth-floor flat in Sharjah on Monday.
The girl, from Syria, is believed to have climbed on to a chair near the open window of her parents' bedroom and fallen through.
Police were called to the scene at 11am and an ambulance took the girl to Al Qassimi Hospital, where she died soon after arrival.
Police said the toddler sneaked off to the bedroom in Al Majaz 2 area while her mother was distracted in the kitchen.
She is understood to have been an only child.
A case has been filed at Al Buhairah Police Station, where the parents will be summoned for questioning as part of investigations.
