When Monaco-born restaurants Beefbar and Crazy Fish opened at Al Fattan Currency House, The National review stated that "they're certainly on to a good thing".
Fifteen months later and steakhouse Beefbar seems to have solidified itself as a go-to spot on Dubai's culinary circuit. And yet, it has just been announced that the restaurant will be relocating to an as-yet unnamed destination next year.
Brand owner Riccardo Giraudi commented: "We are incredibly grateful to the energy and support we have received since opening and we are sure the relocation in 2020 will enable a unique experience."
The restaurant has also announced the launch of Leafbar, in response to its rising number of vegan and vegetarian guests. While no more details about the concept were available at the time of writing, it has been confirmed that this will be the first of its kind for the brand internationally.
In a post on the restaurant's Instagram account, the announcement said: "The undisclosed location will not only proudly host our signature meat, but will also mark the international launch of Leafbar, a natural response to the rising number of vegan and vegetarian guests.
"We are looking forward to welcoming guests to our bigger and better venue, watch this space!"
In the meantime, it seems the restaurant will remain closed. "Today is the last day," the team wrote on social media on Friday, April 19.
Crazy Fish has also seemingly shut down. A search for the restaurant on Google determines it "permanently closed", and a post on its official Instagram account stated in November 2018 that "we are currently undergoing interior refurbishment to enhance your dining experience," directing diners to Beefbar for lunch and dinner instead.
Beefbar hails from Monaco, but is also open in Paris, Mexico, Hong Kong, Budapest, Cannes and Mykonos. Beeftro, Beefbar’s little brother, is open in Luxembourg.
