A new branch of The Maine to open in Dubai's Business Bay
The restaurant will launch at ME by Melia, in The Opus by Zaha Hadid
If you enjoy your oysters shucked, then you're in luck, as a new branch of Jumeirah Beach's popular brasserie, The Maine, best known for serving fresh bivalves and grills, will be opening at the ME by Melia Hotel, inside The Opus by Zaha Hadid in Business Bay.
In January, The National reported a new branch of JBR's popular oyster bar and grill will be opening in Dubai's Studio City. The restaurant, called The Maine Street Eatery, is said to be opening this month. At the time of its announcement, founder and managing partner Joey Ghazal described it as "more of a cousin than an exact twin" to the JBR restaurant. He described it as more of a neighbourhood eatery in comparison to the nautically themed original.
A different twist can also be expected at the new Business Bay restaurant, which is called The Maine Land Brasserie.
Plans are afoot to also launch The Maine Food Truck, which will serve tacos, including the JBR branch's signature fish tacos, this month.
The three-year-old The Maine, at The DoubleTree by Hilton, is well known for serving great food, creating an upbeat ambience, and offering top deals throughout the week, including its popular ladies' night.
"It’s always been more of a lifestyle to me than a restaurant," said Ghazal.
While it's been reported that the third iteration of the restaurant will open before the end of this year, it was confirmed to The National in December that the hotel will not open until 2020. Earlier last year, developer Omniyat announced the hotel, in Dubai’s Burj Khalifa District, will be delayed until the end of 2019. It was originally scheduled to open in 2018.
When it does open, a bevvy of 15 bars and restaurants are scheduled to come with it, including UK-born Japanese robatayaki restaurant Roka, and a branch of London's popular Radio ME Rooftop Bar.
