A 35-year-old worker has been accused of physically assaulting his supervisor after his wages were docked, leaving the man with a permanent disability, Dubai Court of First Instance was told on Monday.
In May, 2016, the Indian defendant burst into anger after his supervisor, 36, also Indian, informed him that a few days of pay had been deducted from his salary as he had been absent without permission, according to court records.
The defendant pushed his supervisor, who then fell and sustained a five per cent disability.
A medical examination proved the supervisor suffered a disability in his ear.
“We had a misunderstanding and I pushed him. I didn’t mean to cause him a disability,” the defendant told prosecutors.
The defendant denied a charge of causing intentional injury.
A verdict is expected to be issued on April 16.
