A woman saved her child 's life by dropping him from the window of her first-floor apartment before jumping out herself to escape a building fire.
The blaze broke out in a residential building in Al Nuaimi 2 in Ajman on Sunday.
Police and firefighters rushed to the scene to evacuate the building, but before they arrived the Asian woman had already called for help from passers-by and dropped her son, 3, down to them.
The child was unharmed.
An Arab man living in the building jumped from the second floor.
He and the mother suffered moderate injuries from the jump and were taken to hospital, said Lt Col Raed Al Zaabi, deputy head of Ajman Civil Defence.
Col Al Zaabi said firefighters also rescued a family of seven from the building before bringing the blaze under control.
Initial investigations showed that the fire began in a corridor where a washing machine and refrigerator had been incorrectly stored.
