Some Etisalat and du users may notice a special message across the tops of their phones on Thursday.

To celebrate the historic first meeting of the Saudi-Emirati Co-ordination Council in Jeddah on Wednesday, the telecommunications providers have rolled out a message reading "UAE KSA Together".

The council, chaired by Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, met at the Peace Palace in Jeddah and declared its organisational structure.

The council will oversee 44 joint projects promoting economic, developmental and military integration.

The message first replaced network names in September, in honour of the kingdom's national day.

On Monday, phone users woke up to a network name reading Zayed Humanitarian Day on their devices.

The switch was made in celebration of Zayed Humanitarian Work Day, an annual event paying homage to the good deeds and charitable vision of the UAE’s iconic first ruler, the late Sheikh Zayed.
