Transport authorities have announced free parking in Abu Dhabi and Dubai on Saturday due to a public holiday to mark Prophet Mohammed's birthday.

Parking will be free in Abu Dhabi on Saturday through to 7.59am on Sunday, according to the Integrated Transport Centre.

The Roads and Transport Authority in Dubai also announced free parking on Saturday in the emirate, except in the multi-storey parking. Regular charges will resume on Sunday.

The RTA said the metro would continue to operate as per schedule on Saturday with the Red Line open from 5am until midnight and the Green Line from 5.30am until midnight.

The timings for tram services would be from 6am on Saturday until 1am on Sunday.

Customer service centres run by the transport authority will be shut on Saturday for the holiday but smart centres would work around the clock in Umm Ramool, Al Manara, Deira, Barsha, Al Kifaf and at the RTA headquarters.
