A toddler is now in a stable condition after almost drowning outside his home by the beach at Palm Jumeirah.
The 22-month-old Asian boy has been moved from intensive care to the pediatric ward at Latifa Hospital where he is recovering, hospital staff said.
The incident occurred on Sunday night when the child strayed from his family's beach-front house to play in the water.
Family members rescued him when they noticed he was struggling in the water.
He was rushed to Latifa Hospital in an ambulance.
