DUBAI // Three men are accused of breaking a number of children’s rides outside supermarkets and running off with the inserted coins.

At Dubai Criminal Court on Thursday, Egyptian AM, 21, Jordanian MG, 20, and 23-year-old Sudani AA were charged with armed robbery and damaging property.

AM denied the charge while MG’s mother told the court her son is detained by Sharjah Police and AA was not present to enter a plea.

Prosecutors said that the men had been targeting children’s games in front of a number of supermarkets in Al Qusais and Al Nahda between February and March of last year. They managed to break the machines and steal all the coins from inside, which amounted to Dh6,540.

In the process they caused a total of Dh10,000 worth of damage to the machines.

Some of their robberies were caught on the cameras of nearby buildings.

Prosecutors said MG told them that the idea was AA’s and that his own share from the first robbery was just Dh30.

The next hearing will be on May 15.
