A change in weather is on the horizon for the UAE, with strong winds, poor visibility and a drop in temperature forecast.

Dusty conditions are predicted for Thursday and a strong wind is expected to reduce visibility even further that evening, according to the National Center of Meteorology and Seismology.

"On Thursday night a strong wind will start to affect the country. This wind has dust in it and it will also raise the dust on the land, causing a substantial drop in visibility," a spokesman said.

"People suffering from asthma should be aware not to expose themselves to the dust particles."

The Western Region is expected to be worst hit but the conditions will occur across the UAE.

Rough seas are expected until at least Saturday, the spokesman added, and fishermen are being advised to stay on land.

Thursday is expected to be warm, with temperatures of 28°C, but this does not look set to last. Friday will see temperatures drop to 22°C in coastal areas, with colder conditions to come.

"Abu Dhabi may reach only 19°C on Saturday. Dubai will be in the same situation," said the spokesman.

"On Thursday there is a chance of rain - in particular in the northern regions, so we advise motorists to take care on roads, due to the possibility of sliding."

There is also a "small chance" of rain over Northern Emirates on Friday, he said.
