A man who sexually assaulted his girlfriend had his three year jail sentence upheld at Dubai Court of Appeals on Wednesday.
On November 29, 2015, the 22-year-old Emirati invited his Ethiopian girlfriend of the same age to dinner before he took her to a desert and sexually assaulted her, court records showed.
The Emirati soldier first appeared at Dubai Criminal Court on April 24 last year to face charges.
According to police investigations, once they drove to the desert the man climbed over to the passenger seat. The woman began screaming and the man threatened to kill her and dump her body.
During questioning at Dubai Criminal Court, the man denied the charges saying they were in a relationship and the woman had consented.
