ABU DHABI // A Sudanese man has been sentenced to 10 years in prison by the Federal Supreme Court for planning to detonate a bomb in Abu Dhabi with the intention of killing foreigners.
As well as planning to commit acts of terror in the capital, the 29-year-old was also found guilty of posting ISIL propaganda on Twitter and Facebook.
Prosecutors said he was inspired by the terrorist group’s ideology.
He was tried under the UAE’s anti-terror and cyber crime legislations.
During the trial prosecutors said he scouted and inspected locations to execute his plan.
He will be deported after serving his sentence.
