A man who threatened to burn down the company he worked for then kill himself has been sentenced to three months in prison.
Dubai Criminal Court heard how the Nigerian man flew into a rage after being told how much money he was due as his end of service payment.
Holding a petrol can, he confronted senior managers on October 27 last year and claimed he would burn the security company down.
But a quick-thinking employee grabbed the man from behind and kept him pinned down until police arrived.
“He refused to take it [his end of service payment],” his operations manager told the court.
“He became very angry and started screaming and threatening us. After killing us, he said he would kill himself as well.”
Appearing in court in December, the man admitted one charge of issuing threats. He will be deported after completing his sentence.
