A lorry loaded with gas cylinders overturned on an Abu Dhabi road after jumping a red light.
The emirate's civil defence sprung into action to clear away the strewn gas cylinders and make the area safe after receiving a report about the accident on Arabian Gulf Street on Thursday.
Captain Faisal Al Dhanhani, of Abu Dhabi Police, said that the driver failing to stop at the traffic signal had caused the accident.
No injuries were reported in the incident.
According to the Federal Traffic Law, a driver who jumps a red light can face a fine of up to Dh1,000, have 12 black points placed on their license and have their vehicle impounded for 30 days.
The fine for heavy goods vehicles for the same violation is Dh3,000, with their license suspended for one year.
Police urged motorists to adhere to traffic rules, not to jump red lights and avoid speeding.
