One hundred lorry drivers have had their driving licences suspended for dangerous overtaking in Abu Dhabi emirate in the past three weeks.
The drivers were suspended for three months and fined Dh10,000 as part of a campaign to reduce the number of accidents caused by unsafe overtaking, Abu Dhabi Police said yesterday.
On the Abu Dhabi-Al Ain-Dubai lorry roads, 43 accidents involving lorries occurred in an eight-month period this year, leaving 12 dead and seven others critically injured, according to the police's highways department.
