Local farmers to sell their fresh dates at selected supermarkets
Fresh dates will be on sale this summer under the label of Local Harvest at selected supermarkets and Spinney's.
Abu Dhabi Farmer's Services Centre will be collecting, packing, labelling and retailing fresh dates for local farmers who previously have not had a retail outlet for their stock.
They will also be sold at government institutes, and possibly exported to other Muslims countries.
The Farmer's Service Centre said it would guarantee sellers a price of Dh8 a kilogram, even if the wares went unsold. Date types will include Birhi, Naghal, Khinaizi, Sukkari, Shishi, Khalas, Abu maan, Suggi'i, Lulu and Hilali.
