Breast Cancer Awareness Month events

A list of events taking place in the UAE during Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Date: Oct 1 onwards

Location: Zayed Higher Foundation

Event: Long-running campaign to help educate the UAE's blind community.

What is it?: ZHF is introducing awareness campaign booklets in braille.

 

Date: 13 - 15

Event: Pink Corner

Location: Al Wahda Mall, Abu Dhabi.

What is it?: Visit HAAD's information booths and mobile mammogram unit.

 

Date: 13 - 19

Event: Pink Table

Location: Madinat Zayed Women's College (HCT)

What is it?: Come along to the campus for info on breast cancer and the chance to indulge in some home cooking - the costs of which will go towards breast cancer funding.

 

Date: 14

Event: Yas Pink Walkathon

Location: Radisson Blu, Yas Island

What is it?: Take a one hour walk around the island from 3pm onwards to show your support for breast cancer awareness. If you are over 35, you will also have the opportunity to have a free mammogram. Participants of the race are invited to a BBQ on the hotel deck.

Entry is free.

Event: ExpatWoman Annual Breakfast

Location: Al Falak Ballroom at Burj Al Arab, Dubai.

What is it? Annual breakfast which will focus on Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Guest speakers will be at the event, which runs from 8am to noon.

Entry is Dhs 330.

 

Date: 16

Event: Free mammograms

Location: Al Ain Mall

What is it? Free mammograms will be available courtesy of Lifeline Hospital's digital mobile mammography unit.

 

Date: 16 - 18

Event: HCT Women's College celebrate breast cancer awareness

Location: Abu Dhabi Women's College on the 16, Khalifa A on the 17, Al Ain on the 18, and Dubai on the 19. All events will run from 10.30am to 12.30pm.

What is it?: Join students at each campus as they host a range of activities, including a 1km walk at the Al Ain campus.

Event: Free mammograms

Location: City Mall, Madinat Zayed

What is it? Free mammograms will be available courtesy of Lifeline Hospital's digital mobile mammography unit.

Event: Pink Karaoke Night

Location: d'fusion restaurant, Grandeur Hotel, Al Barsha

What is it? Sing your heart out for charity from 8.30pm onwards.

Entry is free.

 

Date: 20

Event: Paddle for the Battle

Location: Dubai Marina Yacht Club

What is it?: Try your hand at dragon boating between 9am and noon. To pep up your energy levels in between, there will be breakfast and a raffle available.

Entry is a Dhs 150 donation.

 

Date: 21

Event: Al Ain vs Al Wahda football match

Location: Al Nahyan Stadium, Abu Dhabi, at 9pm.

What is it? Watch a football game with a twist - the players will be sporting pink tops during this special Etisalat Cup match.

Entry is free.

Event: Attempt to create the world's largest human pink ribbon.

Location: Meydan Racecourse, Dubai

What is it?: Join Breast Cancer Arabia and a representative from the Guiness World Book of Records to show your support.

Entry is Dhs 30.

Event: Sew Pink!

Location: First Floor Atrium, Town Centre Jumeirah, Dubai.

What is it?: Ever fancied sewing for 24 hours? Now is your chance. Help Breast Friends make goods for breast cancer patients from 10am to 10pm on both days.

Event: Safe and Sound: The Survivor's Fashion Show

Location: Burjuman Centre, Dubai.

What is it?: Come along at 7.30pm and cheer 12 survivors of breast cancer - eight of whom will be making their catwalk debut - as they model designer clothes.

Event: Pink Biathlon

Location: Jumeirah Beach Hotel Pavilion

What is it?: It's the start of the UAE's running season, so what better time to get your trainers - and swimsuit - on than for this charitable occasion. The race will be composed of a 1600km run, 500m ocean swim, and another 1600km run. You can compete on your own or in teams of two or three. For those who have not signed up already, your time has unfortunately passed, but you will be able to stand by the sidelines and support those taking on the challenge.

Event: Pink Lady Golf Day

Location: Abu Dhabi Golf Club

What is it? Think of yourself as the next pro golfer? Then clad yourself in pink, tee up in teams of four, and take part in this royal wedding-themed day. There will be an 18-hole competition, as well as plenty of other activities.

Entry is Dh150 for members and Dh395 for guests.

Event: Breast Cancer Awareness Cycle Ride

Location: Mirfa Mosque, Ruwais.

What is it?: Join other bikers at 5.30pm for a pleasant ride through the desert.

Event: Wear Pink Day

Location: Al Yasmina School, Khalifa City A, Abu Dhabi

What is it?: Get ready for a whole lot of pink - the entire school is expected to wear the colour in some form or another as well as raise funds for Red Crescent. There will also be free mammograms for staff.

Event: Pink Walkathon

Location: Dubai (exact location TBC)

What is it?: Join hundreds of other people, at 8am, for Safe and Sound's 3.6km walk.

Entry is free for kids aged seven and under. Dhs 30 for kids aged 8 - 12 and Dhs 50 for adults.

 

Date: 28

Event: Carnival

Location: Meydan Racecourse, Dubai.

What is it?: Support a good cause and enjoy live music, an auction, and plenty of giveaways starting from 7.30pm.

Entry is Dhs 500.

 

Date: 29

Event: Hair for Hope.

Location: JetSet Altitude Salon, Emirates Towers.

What is it?: Book yourself a free haircut between 11am and 9pm and donate your shorn locks to those who need them.

Event: Pink Polo

Location: Ghantoot Racing and Polo Club

What is it?: Join international and local polo players, watch a falcon show, take part in family events, and educate yourself at this second annual event.

Entry is free, and there will be a prize for the best pinkly dressed participant. The event is on from 2pm, with a polo match taking place at 5pm.
