DUBAI // A hand sign has been adopted to support the country’s drive for greater tolerance, it has been announced.

Earlier this month the Vice President and Ruler of Dubai unveiled the Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Award for Tolerance, which is designed to lay the base for developing tolerant young Arab leaders and support intellectual, cultural and media promotion of values that reflect tolerance and openness.

The renowned Arab television presenter Lojain Omran has now been announced as the award’s ambassador, and she launched the “Tolerance Sign” along with the hashtag #tolerance_unites_us to the tune of the UAE National Anthem at the Dubai Fountains.

Three initiatives will be launched in relation to the award to coincide with International Day of Tolerance on November 16.
