ABU DHABI // Emomali Rahmon, president of Tajikistan, arrived in Abu Dhabi on Wednesday on a two-day official visit.

President Rahmon was welcomed at the Presidential flight in Abu Dhabi by Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces who hoped the visit would further friendly relations between the two countries.

At the airport, the Tajik President was also welcomed by Dr Amal Al Qubaisi, Speaker of Federal National Council, Lt Gen Sheikh Saif bin Zayed, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior, Sheikh Hamed bin Zayed, Chief of the Abu Dhabi Crown Prince’s Court, and Sheikh Sultan bin Tahnoon, Member of the Executive Council.

President Rahmon was accorded an official reception as the national anthems of Tajikistan and the UAE were played followed by a 21-gun salute, reported Wam, the state news agency.

During a meeting, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed and President Rahmon discussed ways the two countries could cooperate in the fields of economy, tourism and energy.

They discussed regional conflicts and the importance a focussed international effort to ensure stability and peace in the region.
