Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, spent his second day in Egypt on Thursday with a visit to Sharm El Sheikh Heritage Festival.

Accompanied by Egyptian President Abdul Fattah El Sisi, Sheikh Mohamed toured the festival and watched some of the camel shows.

"My brother, President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, and I visited the Sharm El Sheikh Heritage Festival, a gathering that embodies - with its many varied activities - our authentic, popular heritage and the depth of brotherly ties that unite the Emirati and Egyptian people," he said on Twitter.

"Safeguarding and preserving heritage is a right for future generations."

The festival began on Thursday and features cultural performances and stalls containing Bedouin handicrafts. It will also host a camel race, in co-operation with the UAE.

According to local media reports, the UAE sent eight of its finest camels to take part in the race.

Sheikh Mohamed arrived in Egypt on Wednesday to attend the inauguration of Berenice Military Base.

The joint Naval and Air Force base, in northern Halayeb Triangle bordering Sudan, is described as one of the largest in the Middle East.
