ABU DHABI // The Information and Communication Technology Fund announced the allocation of Dh200 million to finance the applications of telephone services to federal government authorities.

A road map for the transformation to mobile government was approved by the Committee to Activate the Mobile Government Initiative yesterday.

Launched by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice President and Ruler of Dubai, the committee has also adopted an integrated programme to ensure internal coordination between various federal authorities.

The move comes as the Federal Government prepares to launch a number of services available via mobile phones in the near future.

The committee stressed the importance of effective communication and the exchange of knowledge among all stakeholders. A spirit of coordination and teamwork is also needed to achieve the transition to m-Government within two years.

The Dubai Smart Government yesterday announced that Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation has recently adopted the Government Resources Planning systems, enabling the organisation to run its internal operations in alignment with government regulations and systems.

“The coming period will witness several federal authorities launching services through mobile phones, eventually achieving a comprehensive transformation in just two years in line with the vision of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum,” said Mohammed Al Gargawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs and chairman of the committee.

“The transition will make the UAE one of the first countries in the world to make use of smart devices to provide m-Government services, smart education and integrated digital infrastructure that support the overall development of the UAE to achieve Vision 2021.”
