ABU DHABI // Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed, the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, yesterday ratified a decision excluding suburban communal home owners from paying fees associated with extending their homes.
At a meeting of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council, Sheikh Mohammed signed off on the decision to waiver the surveying fees or costs associated with estimating the value of extra land needed for the extension.
The Urban Planning Council (UPC) also announced yesterday that 3,000 housing plots will be given to Emiratis in Al Ain.
As part of its efforts to plan complete sustainable communities, the UPC has unveiled the Al Khrair Master Plan, which provides land to nationals, as well as parks, schools, mosques, community centres and shops. No date for the handover was announced.
Al Khrair is in the eastern sector of Al Ain, south of Bawadi Mall on the road to the Mezyad crossing with the Oman border.
The plan includes about 3,000 plots, each measuring 30 by 36 metres, designated as private residential space for Emiratis.
The plots are arranged to maximise the use of scarce land and establish a road layout that will suit motorists, pedestrians and cyclists.
Residents will also have mosques and parks nearby.
