Dubai Police arrest man for stabbing taxi driver over fare dispute
The suspect was caught in 20 minutes after the attack was reported
Police have arrested a man suspected of stabbing a taxi driver over a fare dispute.
The individual was caught in Dubai, about 20 minutes after the attack was reported.
The passenger argued over the cost of the trip and fled the scene without paying the money.
“He took a cab from Ajman and when he arrived at Riggat Al Buteen in Dubai, he got into an argument with the driver about the fare,” said Brig Ali Ghanem, director of Al Muraqqabat police station.
“The suspect then ran to a nearby building but the cab driver chased him.”
He then stabbed the driver several times in the arm.
“The command and control room received a call from the driver reporting the incident, and a police patrol from Al Muraqqabat police station was on the site in two minutes,” Brig Ghanem said.
All exits of the building were secured and the suspect was caught in 20 minutes.
“Officers and detectives swept the building and caught the man hiding in the electricity room,” he said.
The taxi driver was treated in hospital for his injuries.
