DUBAI // A bogus tour guide forged her ID card so she could lead excursions around Dubai, a court heard today.

Prosecutors said that SZ, a 32-year-old from China, was caught on February 13 when she took a group of tourists to the Dubai Museum. She showed the ID card to a museum employee who grew suspicious and notified police. The woman, who denies the charge, has been in custody since then.

Her defence lawyer asked the Dubai Criminal Court of First Instance to grant her bail so she could be with her two children.

Judge Hamad Abdul Latif granted her bail on the condition she submit her passport and the passport of a sponsor.

The next hearing will be on May 5.
