ABU DHABI // Hundreds of children received prizes for memorising sections of the Quran in the 14th annual Maktoum Holy Quran Memorisation Project.
The contest, which began in April, was divided into 11 categories and prizes were awarded to 108 boys and 109 girls.
Five young people were able to recite the entire Quran, while seven recited 25 parts.
Six teachers were also honoured for their efforts.
The Memorisation Project will begin construction of its new Dh20 million headquarters in Al Warqa next year.
