Dust of your superhero costume as this weekend there's a fun run happening in Dubai and it's raising funds for children with disabilities.
The Anyone Can Be a Superhero 4 kilometre fun run on Friday morning aims to raise funds for the Al Noor Training Centre.
Residents can register as individuals or teams for the run, which is being organised as part of a funfair on the same day.
“We wanted to add another element to a family event so that we could include everyone in a more fun way. This also helps us target the community to walk and get fit,” said Isphana Al Khatib, director of the Al Noor Training Centre.
“This is one of our major fund raising drives of the year and we want to appeal to children and their parents to either join us and walk or run.”
Walk Unified has also been taking place every Friday afternoon at Umm Al Emarat Park since January 26, and has attracted a wide range of walkers with a common goal; to raise awareness and inclusiveness ahead of the 2019 Special Olympics.
Walkers have included members of the royal family, people with special needs, members of the community whether athletic or not, hoping to practice a healthy lifestyle in a safe environment.
The race is free for all children under the age of 10 and free for people with special needs and their care giver.
‘Anyone can be a superhero at the Al Noor superhero fun run,’ is the tagline on pamphlets being distributed to spread information about the campaign.
The race starts at 7.30am on Friday at the training centre in Dubai.
