DUBAI //A British man died in the early hours of Saturday morning after falling from a bridge in the Dubai Marina area, police said yesterday. The body of E L, 27, was discovered under the bridge later the same morning.
Police would not disclose from which bridge he fell. Friends said that E L was last seen attending a concert at Barasti Bar in Le Meridien Mina Seyahi Beach Resort and Marina on Friday evening.
A senior police official said forensic reports had ruled out suspicious circumstances.
"The man could not keep his balance and fell off the bridge. There is no criminal suspicion in this case," he said.
A source at the public prosecution said initial findings indicated that he had lost his balance.
"It is believed that the victim was on foot … when he lost his balance near the bit of the bridge that is under construction. We believe he tried to hang on to the railing or metal bars," the source said, adding that the victim's trousers became entangled in the bars.
A spokesman from the British Embassy said: "We are providing consular assistance to his family and are co-operating with police on the matter."
