A 19-month girl who fell from the 10th floor of an apartment block in Ras Al Khaimah has been airlifted to a specialist hospital to continue her recovery.
Leen Farghali, from Egypt, suffered severe injuries after falling from the living room window of her family's apartment and landing on the windshield of a car parked below at about 11pm on Sunday.
Doctor said the fact her fall was broken by landing on the vehicle may have saved her life.
She was rushed to Saqr Hospital in the emirate, where she received treatment for multiple fractures and severe head trauma in an intensive care unit.
Leen’s father, Mahmoud Farghali, 32, said his daughter had climbed on a couch before reaching a window, from which she fell, while her mother was preparing a school bag for the couple’s son Abdullah, 6.
He had been at the supermarket when he received the chilling call from his wife telling him of the accident.
He said Leen's family have been 'praying' for her to stage a recovery.
Now hopes have received a vital boost after Leen was transferred to Tawam Hospital in Al Ain on Wednesday morning.
"They made sure that her condition was stable before moving her to Al Ain," said Mr Farghali.
"The helicopter arrived at 8am and she reached Tawam hospital at about 10am.
"the doctors directly started ordering tests and scans to get an overview on her current medical condition."
He said that her condition is stable.
"We are grateful for everyone who helped in transferring Leen to a children specialised hospital and we appreciate the medical staff's efforts at Saqr hospital," he said
