The line-up for the 2019 Mubadala World Tennis Championship (MWTC) has now been completed after South Korea's Hyeon Chung was on Sunday confirmed as the eighth and final player.

Chung, 23, has established himself as one of the most exciting young talents on the ATP Tour and reached his first grand slam semi-final at the 2018 Australian Open.

One of the players he defeated on that run in Melbourne was world No 2 Novak Djokovic, who will also be in Abu Dhabi for MWTC, taking place December 19-21 at Zayed Sports City's International Tennis Centre.

World No 1 Rafael Nadal, fourth-ranked Daniil Medvedev, ATP Finals champion Stefanos Tsitsipas, and world No 10 Gael Monfils make up the rest of the six-player line-up.

The one-off women's match will be contested by five-time grand slam champion Maria Sharapova and American teenager Amanda Anisimova.

Chung, who made his MWTC debut last year, will be looking to use the pre-season event in the capital as a springboard for the new season after struggling with injury over the past two years.

If the South Korean player wants to improve on last year's showing - where he lost his quarter-final match to eventual finalist Kevin Anderson - then he will need to get past Russia's Medvedev in the first day's second match.

The winner of that match, which is scheduled to begin after 6pm, will earn the right to play four-time MWTC champion Nadal, who as the top seed has received a bye to the semi-final.

The earlier quarter-final will see Tsitsipas take on Monfils at 4pm, with the victor progressing to face second seed Djokovic in the last four.

The opening day's play will conclude with the women's match featuring Sharapova and Anisimova at or after 8pm.

Day Two will begin with the fifth-place play-off at 3pm, before the Djokovic semi-final from 5pm onward followed by the Nadal semi at 7pm.

The third and final day will then begin at 5pm with the third-place play-off, with the final to take place at 7pm or later.

Should the top-two seeds Nadal and Djokovic meet each other in the final, MWTC history will await the winner, with both players level on four titles.

Tickets for all three days can be purchased at ticketmaster.ae and more information about the tournament can be found www.mubadalawtc.com.
