Japan’s dream run in their home Rugby World Cup ended with a quarter-final exit, as the sport’s heavy hitters started to show they mean business this weekend.

The four semi-finalists have won six of the eight previous World Cups between them, with Wales the only side left who have yet to lift the Webb Ellis Cup.
