It was only the Dolphins' second win in 22 games and Brown said: "Getting a win like this over a team of this calibre, I think it just builds momentum and hopefully will carry over." New England, playing for the second full game without injured quarterback Tom Brady, never led, and their only score came from Jabar Gaffney in the third quarter.
The Super Bowl champions New York Giants needed overtime to defeat the Cincinnati Bengals 26-23 and maintain their 100 per cent record. Kicker John Carney's 22-yard field goal won them the game with only eight minutes of the additional time left to play. The Dallas Cowboys also remain undefeated this season, winning 27-16 at the Green Bay Packers, with Marion Barber claiming a career-high 142 yards rushing for the Cowboys.
Unbeaten Buffalo won their third consecutive game when Rian Lindell kicked a 38-yard field goal as time expired for a 24-23 home victory over the Oakland Raiders. Cortland Finnegan's 99-yard interception return for a touchdown sealed the Tennessee Titans' 31-12 home win over the Houston Texans. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers rallied to beat the Chicago Bears 27-24 thanks to Matt Bryant's 21-yard overtime field goal.
Antoine Winfield's touchdown helped rally the Minnesota Vikings to their first win of the season. The 20-10 success also proved to be the first loss of the year for the Carolina Panthers.
