ABU DHABI // Two brothers from the City Football Schools were among the first fans in the capital to get their hands on Manchester City’s new home kit.

Mubarak and Majed Al Junaibi tried on the new shirts at the City Store in Marina Mall.

The kit goes on sale today.

“I’m so happy about this,” said Mubarak, 13. “I saw a picture of the new kit on Instagram and I said to my dad immediately, ‘I want to buy it’!”

He said he likes the new design.

“It’s the Manchester City blue and the dark lines make it even better. I’m excited to get the kit before it’s even in the shops.”

Manchester City, the defending Premier League champions, are owned by Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed.

The Al Junaibi brothers are pupils at Emirates National School and players for the City Football Schools Abu Dhabi, at Sheikh Zayed City. Each has trained for three years. Majed, 10, also expressed enthusiasm for the new look. “I love the new kit,” he said.

The shirt is “field blue” with dark-blue high cuffs and V-neck collar.

A field-blue triangle is below the front of the collar, with a dark blue pennant tab sewn into the back of the neck.

The tab carries the statement: “We are City” in field blue.

The new kit is made by Nike and, as per Nike commercial claims, “features Nike’s signature design details and offers players the latest in performance innovation, kit technology and environmental sustainability”.
