Looking to test your athletic prowess while also keeping cool? The Dubai Sports Council and Ski Dubai are hosting the 11th DXB Ice Warrior Challenge on Friday, September 25.

The obstacle course at the indoor ski slope at Mall of the Emirates is especially popular with UAE's adrenaline junkies as it includes 22 to 24 challenges such as monkey bar swings, tyre runs and net crawls – all set in about -4° Celsius temperatures. The event is open to everyone between the ages of 15 to 60. Last year's event had participants representing 28 different countries.

This year, the event has introduced a ladies-only category, although there will be male and female staff around to help participants during that race.

The other two categories include an Elite division – limited to those extremely fit individuals who want to challenge themselves to complete the course in under 25 minutes – and a just for fun category for men and women, with participants divided into groups.

This year, due to current Covid-19 regulations, no spectators, friends or family will be permitted inside the venue. The runners will start in socially-distanced groups of five and will have to be ready with their race number pinned to the front of their jerseys or jackets, and timing chips wrapped around their ankles, no later than 15 minutes before the scheduled start of their category.

All participants who finish, will receive a medal and a souvenir Ice Warrior T-shirt. There will not be any other award or presentations. Once the race is over, participants are requested to depart from the venue while respecting safety protocols.

As with previous events, part of the proceeds from the DXB Ice Warrior Challenge will go to charity.

Tickets are priced at Dh367.50 and are available until Saturday, September 19 (or sooner if spots sell out). More information is available at dubai.platinumlist.net
