Get ready for a dose of serious travel-envy. Accommodation platform Airbnb has revealed its most liked Instagram pictures from its account from the last twelve months and they're dreamy.

All of the pictures were taken by guests checking in or by the accommodation hosts and owners. Topping the list was a picture of a bathtub snapped by @chachi86, host at Luc 22 Boutique Alpine Retreat in Queenstown, New Zealand. The image clocked up over 110,000 likes and it's not hard to see why, the freestanding tub has some serious views of the Maori-legend steeped Lake Wakatipu and the surrounding alpine peaks.

Picture perfect

Second spot came courtesy of traveller @jugglesatparties who captured the view from the dining room of an ancient watermill in Ravello, Italy. Dating back to 1621, the foliage-shrouded arched window acts as a perfect frame on to the cobbled village below and forest-covered Italian hills beyond.

Busy rekindling childhood memories around the world, @cristinarnieto captured the view from the bedroom loft of tree house in Willow's New York which was Airbnb's third most-liked post. Seeing the love over 70,000 times, the picture shows the cute skylight window in the treehouse's sleeping loft that's perfect for a spot of remote forest stargazing.

The Mojave Desert ranked in fourth place thanks to a shot by @alalam100 which he took while staying at Joshua Tree Campover Cabin in California. This Airbnb is a renovated 1950's style trailer that comes complete with a whitewashed patio and gorgeous double doors that open up to unobstructed desert views, worthy of 66,000 likes.

A different side of Marrakesh was captured by @theresatorp who posted a poolside picture of the indoor pool at Beautiful Riad in one of Morocco's most famous cities. Clocking up almost 60,000 likes, the vibe is a far cry from the city's bustling markets and medinas. Potted cactus plants, wrought iron window shutters and cushions for some serious lounging complete the shot.

Urban landscapes

A house that’s only reachable by boat on the Hawkesbury River in Australia's New South Wales was next on the list, while Rome’s artsy Trastevere was the only urban view to make the cut.

Rome's Trastevere neighbourhood was the only urban destination to feature in Airbnb's top ten posts last year.

Italy dominated the top ten, with posts showing the almost perfect scenes of Lake Coma from the village of Varenna and sweeping views of the Amalfi coast from a cliff-side home in Piano di Sorrento.

Rounding off the list was a capture by the hosts of The Triangle Siargao on Siarqao Island in The Philippines. The shot of an A-frame cabin surrounded by lush jungle got over 45,000 likes.
