Budget airline flydubai is adding new European destinations to its network from May this year.
The low-cost airline will be the first to fly direct from Dubai International Airport to Salzburg Airport when it begins flights to the Austrian city on Thursday, May 13. The airline will operate four weekly flights to the city, which is located near the German-Austrian border.
With the second-largest airport in Austria, Salzburg is known as a gateway to the popular Ski Amade region, the biggest skiing area in Europe. Fares for the six-and-a-half-hour flight start from Dh2,200 ($599) in Economy class.
Flydubai is also adding Malta, Catania and Naples to its network of European destinations.
It's the first time the Dubai airline has operated to Malta, and flights are set to begin on Wednesday, May 12.
Known for its ancient temples and fascinating history, the island nation is also a favourite with sunseekers and scuba divers. Return Economy fares will start from Dh2,200, with four flights per week from DXB to Malta International Airport.
Holiday options in Italy
To Italy, flydubai will fly four times per week from Dubai to Catania International Airport from Wednesday, May 12. The Sicilian city is known for its Unesco-listed centre, its traditional Italian cuisine and its volcanic ties to Mount Etna. Fares for the six-hour flight start from Dh2,200.
Pizza-lovers may also want to take one of flydubai's newly resumed flights to Naples. Restarting on Thursday, May 13, flights to the millennia-old city will give travellers the chance to visit the place credited with creating the first slice of Italian pizza. It's also a historic hotspot and the coast of Naples, with sites like Nisida and Posillipo, is one of the best in Italy. Fares for return Economy flights start from Dh2,300.
Flights to 65 destinations around the world
Resuming services to the Italian cities of Naples and Catania, and adding Malta and Austria flights, will take flydubai's European network to 20 destinations, including Belgrade, Bucharest, Helsinki, Istanbul, Krakow, Prague and Sofia.
Ghaith Al Ghaith, chief executive officer of flydubai, said: "We continue to gradually grow our network, catering to an increasing demand for travel, as more passengers return to the skies and more countries ease restrictions on international air travel."
The low-cost airline is now operating to more than 65 destinations around the world. As countries open up borders, flydubai continues to add new routes.
Other recent additions to the network include Helsinki in Finland, Istanbul in Turkey, the Maldives and Prague in the Czech Republic.
