The collection was a part of the brand’s Milan Fashion Week showcase and this dress appeared on model Kate King as look number 58 during the show.
Six pieces – 50 per cent of the stock – were bought by the online shopping retailer, Net-a-porter, making it the most expensive item available to buy on the website at the time. They sold out promptly.
The dress is made of a superfine tulle with a delicate back of see-through, ultralight, black chiffon.
The faceted resin crystals are specifically cut to reflect light and are designed to create the illusion of molten lava. Each crystal is hand-embellished and stitched onto the tulle and chiffon.
Since both tulle and chiffon are incredibly delicate, attaching the crystals onto the dress requires incredible precision and craftsmanship, transforming the dress into a demi-couture piece.
