Eco-friendly bamboo cabs

TABONTABON, PHILIPPINES // A Filipino municipality has started running tuk-tuk-style taxis that are made almost entirely of bamboo and run on coconut biodiesel. The mayor of Tabontabon designed the bamboo-bodied taxis as an eco-friendly and safer alternative to polluting and often overburdened motorcycles. There are two models, the ECO 1, which seats 20 and the ECO 2, which seats eight. Both run on one gallon of biodiesel fuel for every eight hours of travelling. The taxis are made with local bamboo and Tabontabon youths help with the manufacturing.
