Jumble it up

For some of us, the working week can seem like a bit of a maze. That being said, mazes you can tackle on the weekend are way more fun, and there's a new one that has just opened on Sheikh Zayed Road in Al Barsha 1, Dubai. Jumble, with its twists, turns and mind-bending challenges, is a great way to escape from the stresses of the working week with your friends. Each room, in what is being touted as "the world's first indoor urban maze" – we use that phrase lightly – has a physical challenge or a problem to solve, and people work in teams of three to six to get through. Two-hour passes cost Dh149 per person and Jumble is open from 2pm daily, for more see jumble.ae/

Lounge room vibes

New year, new lounge – that's the situation at the capital's Beach Rotana hotel now that it has added a "pop-up" concept to its food and drink offerings. Al Nafoura Lounge opened its doors on Monday and is providing guests with a relaxing space in which to enjoy Arabic tunes, Levant-inspired street food and international cuisine. The worldly menu features traditional fattoush, prawn tempura, lamb kofta and the tastiest falafels. If you're into lounging around with friends, the hotel's new "lounge room" in the courtyard is the spot to start the year on a laidback note. Open daily from 10.30am, www.rotana.com
