Liam Neeson, who was in town for the regional premiere of Taken 3, likes Dubai so much he has asked to be invited to the Dubai International Film Festival. During a press conference on Monday, January 12, Neeson showered praise on the festival saying "I have heard from actors and actresses over the years how big the Dubai International Film Festival has become – I would love to get an invite to come to the festival," he said.

“Dubai is fantastic – to fly over the ocean and the desert and then see this amazing city, which has evolved and evolved – it says a lot about human endeavour and achievement.”

As the star of blockbusters Non-stop, Unbroken and, of course, the Taken franchise, Liam Neeson seems to know what makes a good action movie and according to the 62-year-old star, Dubai ticks all the boxes to be the location for one of them. "You could make a great thriller here," he said.

Neeson was in town on January 12 for the regional premiere of Taken 3, which gave some lucky few fans the chance to see the movie early – and with Neeson in the house.

More than 2,000 people forked out Dh100 for the regional premiere of Taken 3, filling 10 screens at the Novo Cineplex at Wafi Dubai.

Since opening in the US on January 9, Taken 3 has pulled in $93 million (Dh342 million).

The film’s marketing slogan is “it all ends here” – but Neeson remained vague about whether it definitely signals the end of the much-loved franchise.

He was however clearer on whether the movie would mark his last outing as a gun-toting hero, adding “I’ve got a couple more action movies in me.”

Taken 3 goes on general release in the UAE on January 15
