Christmas has come early for fans of Downton Abbey. The first official teaser for the film spin-off of the wildly popular British TV drama has been released.
At a little over a minute long it doesn’t spoil the film's plot but treats the viewer to sweeping shots of the Crawley family's grand estate as a new version of the show's theme plays in the background.
The drama ran on ITV from 2010 until 2016. According to EW.com, shooting for the new film began in early September and finished wrapping just a few weeks ago. The entire principal cast from the last season of the Downton Abbey series returned as well as half the original crew.
Fans took to social media to express their excitement:

No, seriously, #DowntonAbbey is worth your time. You think “it’s just old white Brits,” but you get LAYERS and shade for DAYS

However, despite the hype, fans will have to wait a little while longer to get their fix. The Downton Abbey film is scheduled to hit cinemas on September 20 next year.
