Did you know that Saturday, July 15, is World Emoji Day? If you’re stuck for ways to celebrate, why not head down to Dubai Mall Ice Rink and be part of an emoji-themed world record attempt?

Movie distributor Empire International is teaming up with the ice rink to take part in a multi-venue, global attempt to set an official Guinness World Record for the largest gathering of people dressed as emojis to publicise the August release of The Emoji Movie.

The attempt will take place at 6pm, but participants will need to be available between 4.30pm and 6.30pm. The UAE will be part of simultaneous events in Brazil, UK, China, Russia and Ireland to set the record.

Each participant will receive an outfit from The Emoji Movie to keep, a goodie bag, tickets to the Dubai premiere screening of the film ahead of its release on August 10, and free passes to the Dubai Mall Ice Rink.

Empire is looking for 150 participants to take part so if you would like to register, email your name, age and contact details to eli@e4empire.com
THE Improbable sounding Emoji Movie centres on an outcast emoji named Gene, who is spurned by his fellow emojis on account of his ability to use different facial expressions and sets out on an animated journey to become a normal ‘meh’ emoji.
James Corden, Patrick Stewart and Christina Aguilera are among those lending their voices to the film, which is in UAE Cinemas on August 10, 2017.
