Taking to Instagram, Vin Diesel has announced that Cardi B is joining the Fast and Furious 9 cast.

"Day 86, here on the set of Fast 9," Diesel says to the camera, while sitting beside the rapper in an Instagram video. "I know I'm exhausted ... we all gave every single thing we could for this movie, [we] put it all on the table."

"I'm tired," Cardi B then chimes in, making Diesel laugh, "But I can't wait ... I ain't gonna front, this is going to be the best one!" She then added that she was going for a "nappy nap".

This is not Cardi B's first role, this summer she starred in Hustlers opposite Jennifer Lopez, Constance Wu and Lili Reinhart as Diamond. She also featured in a 2017 episode of TV series Being Mary Jane as Mercedes.

The video was posted on the last day of filming in the UK. The cast and crew have travelled around the European country since production began in June 2019 in Hertfordshire, England; they have also shot in London and Edinburgh, Scotland.

True to Fast form, it is set to be a truly global movie, as filming has not been limited to the UK. The cast and crew have also been spotted on set filming in various locations in Tbilisi, Georgia, including Freedom Square, Rustaveli Avenue and the Rustavi Market; Krabi, Ko Phang Ngan and Phuket, Thailand and Los Angeles, California.

Famously, Furious 7 was shot in and around the Abu Dhabi, with Emirates Palace, the Liwa Desert and Jumeirah at Etihad Towers all serving as UAE sets for the action flick.

Fast and Furious 9 is the sequel to 2017's The Fate of the Furious. Confusingly, it is the 10th instalment in the Fast and the Furious franchise, but the ninth film in the main series.

As well as newcomer musicians Cardi B and Ozuna, the popular main cast of the series is assembling, with Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson and John Cena. Helen Mirren is also returning, having starred as Magdalene Shaw in 2019's Fast and Furious: Hobbs and Shaw and briefly in The Fate of the Furious. Charlize Theron will also reprise her role as Cipher.

There is no word yet whether, following Hobbs and Shaw, Dwayne Johnson or Jason Statham will return.

The film is expected to be released in May 2020.
