As one of Pakistan's most revered literary figures, Amjad Islam Amjad has a repertoire that overflows with poetry, lyrics and plays. In a career spanning more than five decades, he has won the hearts of the Pakistani people as well as highly coveted awards including the Pride of Performance, Sitara-e-Imtiaz, 16 Graduate Awards and 12 Pakistan television awards.

Tomorrow, the Pakistan Association is giving poetry enthusiasts in the UAE a unique chance to enjoy Amjad's work in his own voice at an evening dedicated to Urdu poetry. Amjad will recite some of his best-loved writings.

Part of the association's month-long calendar of cultural and social activities to mark the 41st anniversary of the UAE, the free recital will take place at the Pakistan Association premises in Oud Metha.

Accompanying Amjad will be Anwar Masood, another beloved Pakistani poet best known for his comic works. Masood writes in Punjabi, Urdu and Farsi.

UAE-based poets will also have a chance to share their work in front of an audience: several emerging and amateur poets will present their works in Urdu and in the regional languages of Pakistan.
