A motorist has been arrested after he filmed himself stunt driving in a residential district.

Police tracked down the Gulf national, 19, after seeing the video he posted to social media.

Maj Rashid Bin Hindi, head of detective and traffic control at Ajman Police, said the teenager was recklessly driving a Nissan Patrol in Al Rawda, near some shops, and put people’s lives in danger.

“He recorded a video of himself while stunt driving and for purposes of showing off,” said Maj Bin Hindi.

Upon his arrest, police found that the man had previously committed multiple traffic offences and accumulated 32 black points.

He was fined Dh7,000 in total for driving recklessly and endangering others, creating a disturbance in a residential area, and for exceeding the maximum-percentage limit of window tint on his car. He was also given 49 black points, tipping his total number of points over the 67 needed to have his vehicle confiscated and licence revoked.

Maj Bin Hindi said the driver would have his car seized for four-and-a-half months and his licence suspended.
