Two people died and four were injured in a crash in Dubai on Thursday.

Dubai Police said the accident on Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Road happened when a tyre exploded on a lorry causing it to stop suddenly.

A pick-up truck driving behind the lorry ploughed into the vehicle's low steel loading loading bay about 4am.

Emergency services said the two fatalities died at the scene. Four others were taken to hospital, said Brigadier General Saif Al Mazrouei, head of traffic police

"Patrols controlled the flow of traffic and the scene of the accident to aid the arrival of ambulances and rescue vehicles," he added.
