Formula One fans planning on driving to Yas Island to attend the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix later this week will have to park at Yas Mall.

In an email sent out to ticket holders, organisers said they would be doing away with the previous transport system in favour of consolidating parking to one location.

Since the first Abu Dhabi Grand Prix in 2009, fans who bought three tickets received a parking pass that allowed them to leave their cars in a designated area around the island hat corresponded with their seating stand.

The buses were chartered from Abu Dhabi's Department of Transport and Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority.

This year, organisers said all visitors should instead park at Yas Mall's multilevel parking lot for free.

Complimentary shuttle buses will transport fans from the mall — specifically from the information point at the mall's main entrance next to Tryano — to their respective stands.

The buses leave every 30 minutes and organisers advise people to ensure they get off the shuttle at the closest gate to their seating stand.

Alternatively, attendees can take a taxi or Careem to be dropped off at one of the drop off/pick up points at gate 19 and Red Car parking.

Complimentary shuttle buses, running at a frequency of 15 minute intervals, will also take ticket holders from their grandstand seating to the du Arena where the after-race concerts are held.

The shuttle will link the East and West Gates and make stops at the Main Grandstand Shuttle Stop and North Oasis, to assist those going to the Main Grandstand, F1 Fan Zone, Kartzone, Ticket Box office, North Grandstand and North Oasis, or to the West Gate for guests looking to transfer to the Circuit Circular or get a taxi before 6pm.

Buses will run from November 28 to 30 between 9.30am to 1am (or one hour after the concert ends) and on December 1 from 11am to 1am.
