Three men have been arrested on suspicion of killing two Emiratis during a sword fight in Ajman.

The suspects, all from the Comoros Islands, were arrested 12 hours after the incident was reported, police said.

Col Abdullah Al Matroushi, director general of police operations, said the fight started on the Emirate's Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road.

Police found the body of a 22-year-old Emirati man, seemingly beaten to death while trying to escape the fight, at the scene.

Officers also found the body of a 26-year-old, who they said appeared to have succumbed to knife wounds.

A 30-year-old man from the Comoros Islands was found seriously injured at the scene and was taken to Sheikh Khalifa Hospital in Ajman for treatment.

His compatriots and the other two suspects, aged between 18 and 30 years old, were arrested later in Ajman, and await legal action.
