A taxi driver attacked a passenger and stole her Dh3,000 iPhone, a court heard.
The 30-year-old Pakistani is accused of carrying out the crimes after a dispute with the woman and her friend.
Dubai Criminal Court was told that the driver told the two passengers to get out of his car after one was sick in the vehicle and the other objected to the cost of the journey.
The incident took place on August 11 of last year after the two women hailed the taxi from Sheikh Zayed Road to take them to Barsha Heights, Dubai.
Prosecutors said the defendant bit one of the women on the shoulder before grabbing her phone.
The women - whose ages and nationality were not disclosed in court - managed to take down three digits of the taxi's number plate - before heading to Al Barsha Police Station to report the crime.
Police later tracked down the man, who told them during the questioning no argument had taken place.
A medical report from Rashid hospital confirmed one of the woman had a bite mark on the shoulder.
The defendant didn't show up in court to face charges of theft and assault.
A verdict is expected on February 27.
