A sex worker has been sentenced to three years in prison after reporting two men for refusing to pay her.
The Nepalese national called police while drunk on December 9 last year to complain about not receiving the money she was owed.
Officers investigating the incident were dispatched to a hotel in Al Rafaa, Dubai, where the 23-year-old woman was arrested.
Police also detained her two Indian employers who admitted organising clients for the woman but denied not paying her.
Investigators told Dubai Criminal Court: “She said they (the two men) paid her for her work in prostitution at the very beginning but later stopped.
“But they both denied not giving her money. They said that after every time she had sex with a customer, they would hand her a certain amount."
The woman, who was discovered to have absconded from her sponsors in Ras Al Khaimah, was sentenced to three years in prison.
One of the two men was also jailed for three years while the second defendant was acquitted.
