Rain to stick around for next couple of days

ABU DHABI // Forecasters are predicting that overcast weather and drizzles will continue across the country today.

The National Center of Meteorology & Seismology (NCMS) said that light to moderate rain is expected across various parts of the country today and tomorrow.

Temperatures should remain cool at 23 to 27 degrees Celsius in urban areas, but could drop to 22 in coastal areas.

"It is likely to rain in the next few days, more so from Sunday afternoon through till Monday," a spokesperson for the centre said. "On Sunday more rain will be in the Northern Emirates."

Winds were expected to remain the same, with speeds over land between 24 and 36 kilometres per hour.

The centre warned fishermen against going out to sea as tides should reach seven feet today and eight feet by Sunday.

"Tomorrow the sea will be especially rough," the spokesperson said. Wind speed at sea is expected to be 36 to 48 kilometres per hour.

Humidity should remain high at about 65 to 95 per cent.

Light rain fell on most of the country yesterday. The maximum recorded at the centre was 3mm in Khitm Al Shakla in Al Ain.

"Expect rain at anytime in the next couple of days in the UAE, the weather is unstable" the spokesperson concluded.
